Cos'è il gate (noise gate)?
Il gate è un processore di dinamica che elimina o attenua fortemente il suono al di sotto di una soglia prestabilita. Quando viene usato per togliere il rumore di fondo prende il nome di noise gate: su una voce cantata, ad esempio, agisce nelle pause abbassandone il volume. Può essere usato anche creativamente per modificare il ritmo di un loop di batteria intervenendo sui parametri di attack e decay.
What is a gate (noise gate)?
A gate is a dynamics processor that removes or heavily attenuates sound falling below a preset threshold. When used to remove background noise from a recording, it is called a noise gate. For example, on a vocal track, it is activated on pauses between words, lowering the volume. Beyond cleanup, it can be used creatively to reshape a drum loop's rhythm by tweaking attack and decay parameters.
