What is OSC?
OSC (Open Sound Control) is a communication protocol for instruments, computers and multimedia devices, with a client/server architecture: the device that sends the messages is the client, the one that receives them is the server. Each message has three parts: the address pattern, a string that says what the data refers to (for example /knob/1); the type tag string, which specifies the type of the data; and the arguments, the actual data, such as a floating point number. Unlike MIDI it is not limited to 128 values and can also carry text.
