Cos'è un'onda sonora?
Un suono nasce da un corpo che vibra e mette in movimento le molecole del mezzo elastico circostante (di solito l'aria). Quella che disegniamo come onda sonora è la rappresentazione grafica delle compressioni e rarefazioni che viaggiano fino al nostro apparato uditivo. Capire la struttura di un'onda (frequenza, ampiezza, fase) è il primo passo per analizzarla, modellarla e sintetizzarla.
What is a sound wave?
Every sound is born from a vibrating body that sets the molecules of the surrounding medium (usually air) in motion. What we draw as a sound wave is the visual representation of compressions and rarefactions travelling to our eardrum. Understanding the anatomy of a wave (frequency, amplitude, phase) is the first step toward analysing, shaping and synthesising sound.
